The Ultimate Guide to Renting a Car in Dubai (2026)

Who Can Rent a Car in Dubai?

UAE residents can rent with a valid Emirates ID and a UAE driving licence. Tourists and visitors need a valid passport, a UAE entry visa or stamp, and either an international driving permit (IDP) or a licence from a country the UAE accepts directly: GCC states, the US, UK, most of the EU and several others qualify without an IDP. If you are unsure whether your licence is accepted, our team will confirm before you book.

A refundable security deposit is taken by credit card at pickup, and the driver named on the contract is the person who signs for the car. Age matters too: the minimum is 21 for economy and mid-size cars and 25 for SUVs, seven-seaters and premium models, with a small young-driver surcharge that can apply on the higher categories under 25.

Choosing the Right Vehicle for the City

Yes Sure runs a fleet built specifically for Dubai driving. On the Mitsubishi side that means the economical Attrage sedan, the compact ASX and Eclipse Cross SUVs, and the seven-seat Outlander for families. The JAC range adds the J7 sedan, the JS3, JS4 and JS6 SUVs, and the fully electric EX30 for a lower-emissions drive.

For solo trips and city commuting a sedan like the Attrage is efficient and easy to park. If you are carrying luggage, heading out toward the desert, or travelling between emirates, an SUV such as the Eclipse Cross or Outlander gives you the space and comfort. Larger groups usually land on a seven-seater like the Outlander or JS6.

Understanding Salik Tolls, Fuel & Deposits

Salik is Dubai’s automatic toll system. There are no barriers and no cash to hand over. Charges are registered against the vehicle every time you pass a gate on corridors like Sheikh Zayed Road, and Yes Sure bills the tolls incurred during your rental. Budget a little for them if your route crosses the city regularly.

Fuel is handled full-to-full: the car leaves full and should come back full, otherwise the missing fuel is charged at the pump price plus a small refuelling fee. The refundable deposit, typically AED 1,500–3,000 depending on the category, is released once the car is returned in its original condition with no outstanding fines. Bank processing usually takes 5–14 business days.

Picking Up and Returning Your Rental

Booking takes minutes. Pick a vehicle and duration in the Configurator or on the Vehicles page and hit Reserve: it opens WhatsApp with your request pre-filled, and our team confirms availability and finalises the paperwork. We deliver to and collect from Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum (DWC) airports, plus most hotels and homes across the city.

At return, the car is inspected for new damage and any unpaid Salik, parking or traffic fines before the deposit hold is released. Need more time? Message us before your return date and, where the car has no other booking, we will extend at the same rate or move you to an equivalent vehicle. A short grace period applies on late returns before an extra day is billed.
